A.) The iWireP-220 is the best option available for connecting your iPod to your factory Porsche CR/CDR-220 head unit for many reasons. (1) It plays audio through your factory system, (2) charges the iPod’s battery, and (3) does this all through one cable with one direct connection. The cable is easy to hide away. (4) The sound quality is superb. There are no FM static and station interference woes. (5) The price is less than any other option on the market with all of these features included. (6) iWireP prides itself on its excellent customer service. We stand by our products and guarantee them for one year (once properly installed).
A.) The iPod will function very similarly to the way it does when one uses it with headphones. The iPod click-wheel/button interface is used to select songs and playlists. Volume, however, is controlled independently through your vehicle’s car audio system. You may need to turn the volume knob up a tad bit higher when playing music through the AUX port than you would for other options.
A.) The iWireP-220 connects to the CR/CDR-220 head units through the C3 AUX port. Other factory head units may also appear to have this port, but they are not properly wired to support our cable. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE OUR PRODUCT WITH A DIFFERENT FACTORY HEAD UNIT! The iWireP-220 also is not compatible with some newer iPod models like the iPod Touch (2nd Gen) and iPhone (both models). With an adapter the iWireP-200 is able to charge all models of iPods/iPhones that have dock connectors.
A.) Apple recently revised the dock pinouts on their newest iTouch/iPhones. The audio out pins have changed and currently our cable is not compatible. iWireP cannot estimate when the iWireP-220 will become compatible with these iPods/iPhones. As an interesting note, the iTouch second generation and iPhone 3G will charge but not play with the iWireP-220 using a Scosche passPORT adapter. This allows one to charge their newer iTouch/iPhone on the go.
A.) No, the iWireP-220 and the factory CD-changer both use the same port on the rear of the head unit so both cannot be plugged in at the same time. The choice between one iPod full of music and six CDs worth of music is usually quite easy to make. The entire CD-changer does not need to be uninstalled to install our product. One connector needs to removed and that is all. iWireP is exploring options to get around this.
A.) The only tools needed for the installation of the iWireP-220 iPod connector cable, are the factory radio removal keys. These keys can be purchased from you local Porsche dealer for about $2. They can also be found through online sources for slightly more money. iWirep intends to start stocking these keys as soon as possible! iWireP now has these parts in stock and is including them with each order free of additional charge!
A.) You most likely will need to purchase a Scosche passPORT adapter to get the iWireP-220 to properly charge your newer generation iPod. If you are having this issue with an older generation iPod, please contact us.
A.) We’ve seen this happen on occasion. You will likely need to clean the electrical contacts between the faceplate and the rest of your head unit. Use some rubbing alcohol to clean the contacts and everything should be fine.
A.) Yes, in fact one of our first customers lives in South Africa. Shipping, insurance, and signed delivery confirmation will be required for international sales.
A.) Provided the product(s) you ordered is/are in stock, orders will be processed and shipped within one to two business days. You will receive a shipment confirmation e-mail.
A.) Place an order as normal. Then contact iWireP’s sales department alerting us to this request. We will show you what the additional shipping options are and how much extra they will cost.
A.) If the order has not shipped, we will issue a full refund. For orders that have shipped, all items must be returned, at the buyer’s expense, prior to issue of a refund. See return policy below.
A.) If you are unsatisfied with your product and wish to return it, please contact our support department. Do not return anything without contacting us first. Provided the product is undamaged and returned at buyer’s expense within 30 days, a refund (less 10% restocking fee) will be issued. Shipping costs will not be refunded.
A.) iWireP greatly values the privacy of our customers. Customer information will now be sold or given away to any third parties. Your names, address, PayPal account information, and so forth stays safe and locked away.
iWireP does occasionally include text from customer correspondence for our customer testimonial page. Such dialog is only made public with permission of the customer. We will never pubilicize our customers’ full names and addresses. While iWireP does intend to start a periodic mailer, we will ask our previous customers if they wish to be included in it prior to mailing the news letter. iWireP is just as committed to reducing e-mail spam and paper waste as it is committed to maintaning customer satisfaction and safety.
A.) All orders placed through iWireP are processed through PayPal’s system. Once the customer finalizes their shopping cart contents and provides some basic billing/shipping information to our database, the customer’s order is directed through PayPal’s website to safely and secury manage the finaces. Purchasing from our store is no different from paying for an auction on ebay or transfering funds individually between PayPal accounts.

will you be making these cables for the ZUNE?

Thank you for your inquiry. We do hope to start offering additional forms of cables. Currently we are exploring options for connecting alternate MP3 players (such as the ZUNE) as well as the newer iPods/iPhones with Porsche audio systems similarly to how the iWireP-220 functions. We have done some prototyping for such options and compatibility is possible. We are still trying to determine the best supplier that will provide the flexibility needed for future product designs.

I need to know if the iWireP-220 will work with the latest generation of the iPod nano.

The latest iPod Nano is an unusual model. Apple has changed some of their underlying design to be similar to the iPhone/iPod Touch, but not all of it. What this means to you and our product is the iWireP-220 WILL provide audio play through, but it WILL NOT charge the latest iPod Nano alone. By adding an adapter like the Scosche passPORT, you will be able to charge the iPod Nano using our product as well. If you want both audio and power support for your iPod Nano, then I recommend purchasing our cable & adapter package.
